Ready to fire my Dr.
Has anyone been on Clomid and NOT ovulated and also not gotten AF?
I told my dr last week that I hadn't ovulated and she seemed thoroughly unconcerned and pretty dismissive. I had a blood test but no sono.
Today she calls and tells me that I haven't ovulated (duh) and tells me that she has no explanation as to why I wouldn't have ovulated. And follows this up with the news that she could have me on clomid for up to a year (I thought that was NOT recommended) and that she won't do an IUI until I've been on clomid alone for 6 months.
I've already been seeing her for 6 months and we haven't had any success. Why would we (I) wait another 12???
I am SOOOOO sick of dr's and appointments and feeling crummy.
Thank goodness I have an office with a door 'cause I just closed it and had a good cry.

Is this a regular OB or a specialist?

Re: Ready to fire my Dr.
It's an ob/gyn who "specializes in infertility." She is also specializing in a major attitude. EVERY time I ask a question, she answers like it's the stupidest thing she's ever heard.
Is it time for an RE or should I start with another ob/gyn? I'm 37, been trying for 1 year this month; been on two months of Clomid.

Re: Ready to fire my Dr.
I don't know much about Clomid personally but I would definitely seek a new doctor. Someone who you can ask questions to and is more positive.
I saw a friend last night who told me it took her 4 years to get pregnant- she said 3 dr's told her it would n't happen. She had emergency appendix surgery overseas that was a mess. 3 dr's told her she wouldn't be able to have kids- She now has 4 kids-

Re: Ready to fire my Dr.
That Dr must be on Crack.
Seriously, advice from someone who has been there. She is NOT following the right protocol.
Yes you can possibly not ovulate on clomid, but thats just an indication of uping the dosage and possibly doing injectables sooner rather then later.
I Would go see an RE ASAP.
Dont waste precious time.

I totally agree. If you are unhappy and you aren't confident, that's reason enough to move on. Good luck

I feel like *I* am on crack right now. What is the right protocol?
And now, I'm wondering...If I didn't ovulate (which I'm sure I didn't), I'd still get AF, right? She's telling me that if I don't get AF in the next week, I will have to come in for some shot so I do get AF. (AF usually appears day 24-26 and I'm at day 26 now).

Re: Ready to fire my Dr.
yeah you should still get AF like you normally do - she's just staying a "what if". I would recommend seeing a RE.

Re: Ready to fire my Dr.
If you dont Ovulate , you likely will have a delayed AF....
Clomid for that long is bad.
I would want to know WHY she wants to do it for so long and then IUI? Isisnt it wasting time, since you are getting a good idea of how you respond already?
Hang in there!

Re: Ready to fire my Dr.
Thanks ladies!
I have an appointment on Wednesday night for a blood test (to re-confirm that I haven't ovulated) so hopefully I can get some answers from her (providng I can wade through her sarcasm).
In the meantime, I have a consult scheduled for December with Dr. Copperman at RMA.
So now, for the first time in 13 months, I'm hoping AF will get here soon so I can get moving on round 3 of Clomid while I wait for the RE consult.

Re: Ready to fire my Dr.
Clomid Can have the opposite effect to what it suppose to. It's a hyperstimulant but can also be a hypostimulant to some. I would reccommend finding another doctor there are so many other options of drugs tamoxifin and injections being some!! I have a friend that had the same problem with clomid and then changed to a different drug and now is at home holding here 3 week baby boy!!

Re: Ready to fire my Dr.
You really need to see someone else. If you didn't ovulate the first month on 50 mg of Clomid, the dosage should have been raised for the second month. I didn't ovulate until 150 mgs of Clomid, but it only took three months to learn that. Then I took 150 for three months and when I didn't get PG my Dr. sent me to an RE. I was 39 at the time...age is definitely a factor for you. You would rather try to get PG before 40 as opposed to after.
