We're ready to adopt...
but haven't the slightest clue as to where to start!
we'd like to adopt a small dog very soon. Does anyone have any information/rec's as to what we have to do?

I agree with going to petfinder.com and you can also try the American Kennel Club, AKC.org...AKC
That website has excellent information regarding dog ownership and links to rescues for specific breeds if you find one you are interested in.
BTW, I think it's great that you are looking to adopt; it saves a life!

Petfinder.org is a great start. They will list all of the local shelters & rescue orgs.
What kind/type/size/temperemtn are you looking for?

But in all seriousness, most of the cuties at the shelter are already named, and we'll honor that!

I got Bruno from Bobbi & the strays & they are not a shelter. They have foster parents taking in pups to care for before they are adopted. The adoption fee is larger than at a shelter. I would recommend them, as they take amazing care of their pups until adopted, but be ready for a big adoption fee.
