"Exploratory" Interview?
Okay, my resume was sent the to Human Resources Department of a major media company and was contacted by the Director to set up an "exploratory" interview. It doesn't seem like there are any jobs available at this company (I looked it up).
Is it worth it to take the day off for it or is an exploratory interview more of an "okay, let's see this girl and get her out of the way" kind of thing?

Re: "Exploratory" Interview?
I work in publishing and many times they do not advertise for available positions. I say try it & see what happens.

Re: "Exploratory" Interview?
People are busy and don't like to waste their time, so i doubt its a "lets get it out of the way" thing. I think you should go - it helps them put a face to a name and even if there isn't an immediate opening you never know down the line, even a month from now OR they may know other places you can try.
Good luck!

Re: "Exploratory" Interview?
I say definitely go!!
It's hard enough just getting an interview, so any opportunity for you to "wow" them in person is one ot take advantage of.
Good Luck!
