Florida trip

I'm going to florida and leaving this weekend to go be with my brother (who has a brain tumor). I want to go but I am so scared to fly. He needs me and I've made all the arrangements, but today is monday and I'm beginning to freak out, just knowing i'm going to be getting on a plane. I always hated flying but I did it anyway, flew to alot of places but after 9/11 I swore I would never get on a plane again, but he needs me. I am scared to death and what's worse is that I'm going alone. I don't want to sound like i'm whining, but I'm just scared is all. Any ideas on how to make it so that I don't have a coronary would be helpful.

Drugs (ask dr to prescribe something) or alcohol. Don't do both though!

Bring stuff to read, bring an ipod and listen to music that will distract and/or relax you....

I am the same way. Remember that flying is safer than driving and take stuff to keep you busy. I flew in Feb for the first time by myself in about 15 years and it was tough, but I kept my faith in God and brought something to do to keep my mind off of it.

Tylenol PM if you cannot get vallium or a Quaalude or something, This is how I got DH on a 6 hour transatlantic flight.

there are things that a doc can prescribe specifically meant for the plane ride anxiety.

or alchohol on the plane or before taking off.

usually I just try to take some deep breaths and sleep or get really involved in a book.

Have a stiff drink before boarding. I bring a sleep mask and try to sleep, and also a book. good Luck. Its not that bad.

you will be fine. Fortunately Florida is not a very long flight.

Awwww, thanks for all your ideas girls. I can get a valium from my father. I think that and a good book as well as some music (very loud) will have to do. But I do thank each of you for your ideas and thoughts and well wishes.

If you are flying JetBlue, they have tv's which help a lot. Just find a great show and relax.
