What does this mean?
After my visit to labor and delivery last weekend I've been a nervous wreck, so I asked my Dr. at my appointment today to do a cervix check even though I wasn't scheduled for one. He said I'm a fingertip dilated and starting to efface, though he didn't say how much. Is that normal for 34-35 weeks? I wanted to ask questions but he had to rush out of there to go deliver 3 babies!

As far as I know it's 2 fingertips for every cm. So that would mean you and 1/2 cm dialated. People can go weeks even more dialated than that. As for the effacement, he didn't say enough......I wonder how much. I think if it was anything significant he would have let you know. Maybe you should call the office and tellthem what happened (and about your hospital stay) and tell them you need to know more.
Most importantly rest!! Try to stay off your feet as much as possible!

Ugh, so more or less it means anything! I told the Dr. about my visit to L&D last week and that's why he did the cervix check, so knowing that I'm sure he would've told me if he had any concerns. They upped my visits to once a week now, so at least now they'll be monitoring me a little more closely! Rest??? How can I rest when I have this INSANE urge to NEST??!
