RSONY question again...

Again, for those who go to RSONY, when you call for blood results, do you ask to speak to the doctor personally or do you just ask whoever answers the phone? I am not feeling well today and since my dh had to call about his SA results, he asked about my blood results as well. She told him the results were in and that everything was normal, plain and simple. I had 15 vials of blood taken from me and was tested for MANY things, I would like more than "the blood work was normal." Should I call back and ask to speak to the doctor or is this the general practice? I would like to discuss the results with Dr. Saketos personally, what should I do?

I would ask them to fax you a copy of your results for your "file"...that's what I always do!

Because of HIPPA they will not fax you anything. Getting someone on the phone is difficult even when the results are abnormal. The bloodwork you got done was propably the routine panel for pregnant (or wanna be) mothers where they screen for genetic problems or diseases such as Hepatitis and HIV, so a "normal" result is about all there is.

That being said when you next go for an appointment (blood/sono), the MD will sit down with you and go over everything. If you want a copy of your results they will give them to you there.

Good luck

Yes this was a prenatal blood work up but it was also done because I have extremely irregular cycles and do not know the reason why. She wanted me to start taking Metformin if my insulin levels were off but now that the nurse claims everything is normal, I dont know where I stand with that. So I would assume that I need to speak to the Dr. personally about that right?

My doctors always fax stuff to me. I just have to sign a consent and fax it to them first.

my DH tried to do this and RSONY told him he had to come there personally to sign the release.

If you were waiting for the results to start a medicine than I would call and ask to speak with the MD.

Re: RSONY question again...

RsofNy is an interesting place lol . You deal much more with nurses than you will ever deal with the physician. You are very lucky when you even get to see Dr. Saketos. There is a big difference in the doctors there and although I chose Dr. Saketos, sometimes I have met with others...and it's frustrating. Rsofny has always been great with calling me the same day for bloodwork...but when it came to my hsg and my dh's s/a, it was weeks BEFORE I GOT THE RESULTS...and ended up speaking to another doc rather than Dr. Saketos to review them.

When I give blood, I specifically tell the girl, that I want 'exact levels' to be left on my answering machine. Normal doesn't cut it for me. I was once told something was normal and it clearly wasn't....based on what was going on with me.

Try to make an appointment when Dr. Saketos is there. She is usually there Tuesday mornings in the AM but sometimes she gets called out. :(

I have never received a copy of my results from Rsofny but I have never asked them. Thank you Lisa....I am definitely going to do this next time.
