need opinions on Alure
we're looking into having our kitchen redone. we had one quote so far, from alure, that was $$$$$
anyone used them? positive or negative experiences?? is it worth it?
feel free to FM me if you don't want to post it.
any other places you would recommend---home depot is NOT an option...we had a nightmare appointment with them

I was going to make an appt with them for a quote for our kitchen. But if they were  I better prepare myself!
We used a place called Homecraft for our bathroom and they also do kitchens (we're going to be getting a quote from them also). We were very pleased with them. they are fully licensed and insured. I checked them out with the county nad on the BBB and there were no problems. They are located in Wantagh on Merrick road.

I've used Alure. They did my roof and siding. They do good work but they're not the cheapest in town.

we used Alure for all new windows. Definately great quality, but they seem to forget about calling back when we call with little questions AFTER they have our money  
they are VERY polite and wonderful as far as customer service on the phone, but ACTION speaks louder than words
yes, they were expensive too.

Out of all the 10 quotes I received for some work on my house, Allure was the most expensive by at least $20,000

Alure is totally overpriced in my book. They think they can charge whatever they want because they are the Extreme Home Makeover's LI team. And they publicize that as much as they can.

I thought this at first too, but they were right in line with other quotes we had gotten.(sears was one, and other private contractors also) Im usually the QUEEN of not falling into marketing crap too.  This was my first RULE to my hubby. and I was pretty shocked myself.
for siding, we're most def not going with them, because we did get MUCH better pricing for the exact same siding with a private contractor.

My parents got there bathroom done with Alure. This was BEFORE the extreme makeover thing. They do amazing work but were always $$$$ But they are great quality

apart from being one of the most expenseive to quote us for roof, siding and windows, they sent a typical salesman with the briefcase and everyhting - he couldn't answer any of the technical questions - obviously we didn;t hire them

I totally agree. You walk in their showroom and it's like an EHM commerical!
They quoted us the most expensive around USING the cheapest materials - their quote for our new kitchen was for all veneer cabinets....not wood. We weren't too impressed so we looked elsewhere.

From what I've heard from several people, and yes, like a poster said they can be very highly priced and install some of the cheapest materials.

I'm not sure about their pricing for internal work but when we used them for external roofing and siding they were a little higher than most but we negotiated and got the price within range. We priced others as well. King Quality was one that I can remember. They were higher than Alure.

As you know they did my kitchen and there prices were the same as the other top companies we looked at. Because of our work schedule we had to trust the company with our house and alure was the only one I felt comfortable with. Also, I liked the fact that I could pick out the products in one place and they ordered them. My advice to you is to have them come to your house and ask tons of questions (ask about insuance too!). With me it just clicked..i loved the company.

I've heard stories about Alure. They will take advantage of the average home owner. However, if your savvy and know your stuff, you'll get the right price.
