Spinoff: Sunglasses.......

Do you purchase pricey ones and feel they are better for you or just for the trendiness?

I love all these nice pricey ones but in reality, they dont protect like most and for me, I sit, scratch and lose them so I was always scared to get one.
Ex; Dior, gucci's etc.

My pricest ones are $60.

The reason I invest in the pricey ones I just think they are better for me, very trendy, and I think they protect my eyes alot better than the cheap ones. I love sunglasses and I do not mind paying a few dollars for them. I take very good care of my collection of sunglasses.

Having purchased Chanel, Cartier & Maui Jim, the only one I found to be worth the money was the Maui Jim's. Their lenses are superior to the others.

Cartier comes in second, but they're really expensive for sunglasses.

I'll never buy a pair Chanel's ever again. As much as I like the styles & designs, the quality just isn't there.

between me and my DH we have tried Prada, Versace, Channel and Gucci

and to be honest- they are all made by the same company

all of the ones we have have held up great- I keep mine in the cases- I have never had a problem

People at the sunglass hut said that "designer eyerwear" dont have the same protection as other sunglasses except for Maui Jims.

as far as how they're made, they are all made the same. No one is better. Plastic is plastic. The name is what makes the price skyrocket


I havent bought but i will buy a pair of dior bc of the way they look. I also have cheapies bc they look good on me. So its all about how i lookfor me, not protection or name brand

I use sunglasses more to hold my hair back off my face than anything else, so they subsequently get lost a lot. I don't pay more than $80 for mine.

I try not to spend more than $50 on them because I constantly sit on them, or leave them lying around my car.

I have a pair of Ray Bans, Michael Kors (which I got in TJ Maxx!), and knockoff pairs of chanel and coach

I will buy cheapies on the street too, so I'm not a total snob

DH wears the Maui Jim's because they are polarized.

Ray Bans are excellent also, if you are looking for protection

for me, lense quality is much more important than a name. my eyes are very sensitive and I need them to be polarized. that said, the most I have spent to date was $250 on the Maui Jim's I currently own. I've had them for more than 4 yrs. Mine broke last year and MJ sent me a brand new pair for free.

i only owned one pair of expensive shades - they were gucci - and i LOVED them. but i have a giant melon head - and from constantly putting them up ontop of my head - i stretched them out - so when i would wear them on my face they would slide to the tip of my nose!!!

I buy mine at Marshalls, TJ Maxx, DOTS, NY Thruway.

Sorry I break them to easier so when it comes to Sunglassses I am a cheapo

I really do love the pricy ones though!

I don't spend alot on sunglasses. Have never owned a designer pair. I lose them very easily and damage them easily. Protection is the most important thing next to style, for me. So a $15 pair from NY & Co is fine for me if they look good.

If I buy an inexpensive pair - they usually just last me one season, b/c they break or I loose them, so I wind up buying new ones every summer

I bought a coach pair - not as pricey as others - but I like how they fit my face and I have had them for 2 years now - which is big for me! I also take care of them more b/c I know I spent a little more on them

I go these and DH got the Maui Jims on our honeymoon. The salesman said you want polarized lenses and they are definitely the best glasses I've owned. Love them. I want the glasses to protect my eyes and i think they are nice looking too.
These are Blinde glasses the style is Bagel Jr.

When we first looked the guy was telling us these were worn by Keaneau Reeve in The Matrix-we said OK and how are the lenses

I've only been able to wear regular ones recently since I got contacts, before they were prescription Guess. DH is the one who buys all the designer.. Oakley mostly.

my eyes are very sensitive and i get migraines if i wear cr@ppy sunglasses, so it's worth it to spend a little extra for good quality sunglasses.

i dont care about the name, as long as they fit well and dont hurt my eyes

I wear Gucci, Coach and Prada but only because DH works at an optical. Other than that...I probably would splurge on one or two pairs but that's it.

I bought one pair of $70 sunglasses in my life... I've kept them in good shape and used them for about three years. Besides that most of mine come from TJ Maxx type places and cost less

I buy cheapos! I can't see spending a lot of $$ on something that I either loose or change in style. I love Target for mine!
