What's the going rate for babysitters?
We're going to ask our neighbor's college-aged daughter to watch Jackson in a couple of weeks, but we have no idea how much to offer.
What do you all give?

Don't offer. Ask how much they charge. That way you're not paying more than necessary. THe rate by me (LI) is anywhere from $9-11/hr

My friends pay $10-12 an hour for college students to babysit. Less for high school.

I paid $10 an hour to grad student. Thats what she requested. I only have one child under 1 yr.

The average rate for Barnard Babysitting in NYC is $13/hour.

Funny I just posted a simiilar question last week. I was told between $10-15. But, the girl who works at DDs daycare said she charges about $8!
