You can knit every row if you want. That's called garter stitch. If you knit a row and the purl the next it is stockinette stitch.

Re: knitting?

I am a relatively new knitter as well. so far I have made a couple scarves (all garter stich). I got yarn that I love so I've gotten tons of compliments and no one really sees my mistackes. I would suggest doing a couple plain garter stich scarves (or something simple) for awhile. It has really helped me to become more consistent and to stop mistakenly pickuping stiches (I did this all the time initially). I would love to post my "work" but we haven't been able to find our camera for ever Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: knitting?

I knit. I have been doing it since I was young with my mom. Let me know if you have any questions. Once you learn the basics, you can do almost anything. Cables are a pretty easy thing to learn, if you want to get a bit of detail

Are you in Sayville? I was in the new knitting store that just opened there and they do have some great things and will be having a Friday night knitting GTG too. I learned to knit when I was young and picked it up again several years ago. I went through a phase where I took lots of classes, went to the big "Stitches" convention and took lots of technique and design seminars and learned sweater design. I set it aside a few years ago when we moved, then got involved in scrapbooking, but I'm starting to pick up my knitting again.

WOW! That's beautiful!! Thanks for sharing! I will take a pic of my scarf and post soon....

Quick question-where can I find a knitting bag? Or, what do you all use to keep your yarn and supplies in?

TIA!

Re: knitting?

I'm a newbie when it comes to knitting and I am so envious of all of your skills. I made 4 scaraves for christmas and they were boring straight knitting. I think they came out ok but I need to start trying something new!
