DH is ready to kill me UPDATE
We saw the cutest cat ever in Petco up for adoption. It was abandoned and is just so cute and friendly. I applied and they are coming for a house visit. DH loves cats (grew up with them) and liked this one but is worried about all the money with pets. I say, if you open your heart, the money comes somehow. We'll see....
UPDATE: Just got back from Petco. We were with the cat and she repeatly swatted at the boys, and Holden barked incessantly, which is not like him at all. Guess it wasn't meant to be and I feel terrible about not being able to help

I agree. And we had 5 dogs that ate like horses....you make adjustments

I had no idea you were thinking of adopting a cat! I'm so happy for you guys.  Let me know if you need any help or advice.
BTW, we spend about $40 a month for both of our cats food and litter, and I chane the litter 2x a week. It used to be even less, but Lydia has to have a special type of food for her kidney issues.

Great info, thanks! We weren't exactly looking to adopt, we fell in love with one kitty up for adoption. DH is still unsure but I swore this is my last pet. I'll let you all know...

Which Petco? I was at the one on Jericho Turnpike the other day and saw the cutest orange tabby. He looked like such a mush - I can't stop thinking about him.
I can't adopt anymore b/c I have 3 of my own and one rescue we are still trying to place. If I could, I would have taken him home in a heartbeat.
