NSAL Question...
We're just starting our search for a dog...
We definitely want a shelter dog and have been searching in a few places.
My question is in regards to NSAL. Do they have different/more dogs than what they show on the website available for adoption?
I noticed only puppies and young dogs available on the site, but we're looking for an adult dog.
Does anyone know? (I will eventually go there and call, but just was curious.)
Thank you in advance.

They usually do, but again what they have in their kennels can change from moment to moment, so it is best to just go down. Even if you call they will tell you to go down in person & give limited info on the phone.
When you go, have the name of 3 references available (that they will call while you are there) and the name of your (future) vet.
Good luck & congrats on deciding to adopt.
PS the Town of Oyster Bay shelter has quite a few adult dogs too...

Re: NSAL Question...
There is also a shelter next to NSAL I think it's a few blocks before they usually have a few older dogs in there and I think there not as strict and there donation is not as high I know the last time I was at NSAL was asking for a donation of $100.00 for Dogs. Just to let you know some options.

Re: NSAL Question...
When we adopted Rudy they had adult dogs. Rudy was never on their website. I think he was pretty new when we got him.
You are awesome for adopting!

Re: NSAL Question...
Thank you all so much! You've all been so helpful! We're so excited about adding to our family. I can't wait until we close on our house...we have a great yard for the dog to run around in not to mention he/she'd be a great companion for my Grandma during the day while we're at work. (We're care givers for my Grandma.) She is so very excited about the idea.
