Annual vet check
Our vet does bloodwork at the boys' annual check up. He checks organ functions, etc. People at DH's job were telling him this is a crock and our vet is screwing us out of money. Does your vet do blood work every year?

We do it too.... It costs an arm and a leg but wouldn't you want to check your child out too

Absolutely. It is so important to get bloodwork & a stool analysis done annually.

We got bloodwork done - I think it was for heartworm.
We were thinking about getting Molly's hormone levels tested because we wanted to see if anything was left in from the second surgery - but then we decided against it since we know that we are def. not going to open up her again. We thought some things are better left unknown.
I don't think the Vet gets a chance to really feel her body though because she is always so bad. They had to put the Hannibal Lecter Harness on her last night - so maybe they did get to check - they asked us to leave the room since we baby her!

We get the heartworm bloodwork also.
My annual vet visit usually runs in the area of $200 for all the shots, bloodwork, etc.
It's a lot but what can you do? She's my baby and I don't want her to get sick if I can prevent it.

I don't mind doing it, just wondering if most vets do this. In addition to the heartworm and fecal samples, our vet checks their blood counts, organ functions, etc.

My vet does a full blood check, just like the ones we get at our annual. Checks all the organs & the blood in addition to the worm tests.

OMG I love it. Not that i want to see her tortured, but I can just picture all hands on deck for the 5 lb cutie!

Yes my vet does a full range of blood work.. checks for heart warm, liver levels.. and a whole 9 yards.
I too feel this may be a way to get all my money... but the guilt I would feel if I didn't get it done and than there was something wrong with them out weighs the money to me.
