Makeup-Ques re: eyeliner on bottom?
I use liquid eyeliner on the top of eyelids and occassionally like to line the bottom. (with a pencil)
I feel like I am the only one who does it and within the hr has racoon eyes. My liner never stays, is running down or to the corners...or completely wearing off.
Is there a certain type I should be using or some certain technique?
Im not the best at makeup so excuse the lack thereof of applying.

I don't use eyeliner on bottom for exactly your reasons. But the best eyeliner I have right now is by Clinique. It is a gel eyeliner and it is the least smudgy eyeliner I have ever used. It is between a liquid and pencil in consistency. Once it dries, it stays where it is without the hard line of a liquid.

I have very small eyes to begin with and I've been told numerous times by make-up professionals that lining the bottoms will make my eyes look smaller, so I don't do it.

I use powder on the bottom lash line. This way it is much softer and doesn't run.

I only do the top line with a black eyeshadow and brush it out to make it look smoky. I usually leave the bottom clean bc like you said, within an hour I get that natural line on the bottom and I just leave it like that.

When I use black liquid liner on the top, I don't use any liner on the bottom.
When I use pencil liner though, I do the top AND the bottom. I only do from the outer corner of the bottom in to the middle. I don't line all the way across. That's just too much. I also put a little of the same color of shadow as the liner on top of the liner. It helps to set it so it stays on longer (you could also use translucent powder).

Its' not always.
Deb, I use a pencil, and just sort of dot it between my lashes, and don't carry it too far to either end.
I smudge it a little, that it way it smudges where I want it & doesn't run later (kinda like blotting lipstick).

Also, if you are looking for a less "harsh" look, try brown or grey eyeliner. If you have blue eyes, brown eyeliner is supposed to make your eye color pop!

Same here! When I went for a makeup consultation, the lady told me that eyeliner on the bottom was a No, No bc it runs. She suggested the shadow & I like the way it looks...Plus no running!!!

I've had problems with pencils on the bottom.
Now I use MAC Fluidline in black (Blacktrack). A gel liner applied with a liner brush that dries.
Follow with eyebrow color (shadow type) (using the same liner brush) on the line to set it.
If you wear liquid foundation, tap a very little translucent powder with fingertips around the area before applying eyeliner.

I agree also... I always line the outside of my bottom lashes and I use a powder and an angled brush.

really? see I don't agree with that - for me anyway. I have small-ish eyes, not tiny. I always line the bottom, but not with the liquid stuff. I use MAC in the shade "Teddy", which is a brownish/bronze. that's my favorite one to use. if I use black liner, I don't line the bottom lash line.
ETA: I don't draw a heavy line on the bottom, it is more muted.

So I decided to skip the eyeliner on the bottom and just did it on top and I really like it...hmmm have to see if Dh notices a difference
He noticed- but not in a good way- he said I looked tired... I wasn't tired at all- he said, something is different with your eyes and I told him and he said- I like it the other way better- soooo, going back to my old routine

I use MAC's eyeshawdow color Brun, with an eyeliner brush, and it doesn't run
it is powder obviously but I put it on the top of my lids and bottom and it stays pretty well
