Does anyone know of any good papers to advertise in?
We are adopting domestically. WE have been advertising locally in NYS, but we have not gotten much of a response. Soon we will be certified and able to advertise all over the US. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best route to take with advertising. There are so many papers out there, we are not sure where to start.

Do you have an agency? That might be a good place to help you get the info out there.

We are going through a private lawyer, and she did give us a list of papers, but so far with the NY listings we have had no luck. I thought maybe somwone had the name of some papers they found gave them a good response.

My friend used an agency and a private lawyer. I think the agency helped her get greater reach while the lawyer helped control the adoption much better.

My friend did the same. Her daughter is from Utah. She advertised on her own for almost a year. She was with the agency only 6 months when she was paired with a 2nd trimester birthmom.
eta. If you want FM me & I'll ask her what papers she advertised in initially but it didn't render great results. Mostly phone calls from moms-to-be who were scared & just found out they were pregnant or the crank calls (which were horrible).

Thanks for the replies. It is so nerve wracking trying to find a birthmom. It helps to get advice from people who have been there!

Have you read Fast Track Adoption? Its a BTDT on domestic adoption. I remember reading it and thinking it had a lot of good tips. We adopted from Russia so we didnt use any of them so cant say for sure. I have a copy available if you want it - just FM me your address and I will send it out.
