What's the latest you will cook dinner?

Dh usually works until 5:30. So I have no problem starting it when he leaves work.

He is in "busy" mode at work and lately he isn't leaving till closer to 7, which means he won't get home till after 7.

I just don't feel like cooking at that point. I took steak out, but the later and later it gets, the less of a deisre I have to slave over a hot stove!

Anyone else get like this?

I will cook up till 8:30, because we both get home on the later side. Mon., Wed. & Fri. DH has Physical Therapy so he isn't home till the earliest at 7:45 anyway..........

ETA that the later is gets, the simpler the meal gets too!!

DH is supposed to leave work at 6, but often doesn't until at least 8. I refuse to cook dinner if he's coming home any time after 9:00.

We're renovating our house so by the time I get home from work and DH wraps up what he's doing, it could be 11PM. That's why I've gained weight since we moved to the suburbs!

We usually eat by 6pm. If we are not hungry, we will feed the kids and eat when we get hungry but usually not later than 8pm.

DH gets home from work around 5:30-6 so I will start cooking dinner at 6, but latest I will cook is 8pm, after that he will have to pick something up on his own.

9pm is usually about when we give up & order pizza.

I frequently get home at 8:45 & if dinner was planned Dh will still make it.

Tonight we went out to dinner at 8:45 (which is why I am still awake)

ETA-- a few weeks ago we made dinner a little after 10, b/c friends came over & surprised us just as we were about to start dinner at 8, so we drank with them instead & ate when they left.

Re: What's the latest you will cook dinner?

During the week, I get home anywhere between 6-7.30. I do not like to eat late, but we usually eat around 8-8.30.

I wont begin to cook from 8.30 onwards.

ETA- Our choice of take away after 9 PM is very limited. Not much is open in this part of Sydney after then. Chat Icon

So if I dont cook, it is usually cheese and crackers for dinner.

I can totally relate. Dh used to leave his job 5 sharp now he tends to get home later. Usually if I haven't heard from him by 6 I give him a call to get an ETA. If he leaves work too late I usually ask him to bring home take out instead.

Re: What's the latest you will cook dinner?

DH works weird hours. If he works 8-5, he gets dinner at 7-7.30.

4-12am, I come home, get Jules down, get to bed by 7.30ish, wake up at 11.30 and cook dinner to be ready by 12.30. That's the only way we get to spend any time together.

Midnight to 8, I make it same as 8-5 but he takes it to work and heats it up there. This is the worst, I hardly see him at all.

6 or 7 on a weeknight. After that we're usually too tired to clean up the kitchen.
