Cayman Airways or Spirit Airlines???

Back in the day we would fly Cayman from Miami but they are coming to NY. Now we also have the option to fly Spirit but it's a stop in FL. We are going in February. Cayman has their direct flights from NY for about $1800 for the 4 of us. A 2 1/2 hr direct flight is really tempting with 3 kids under 5!!!! BUT then there is Spirit, it could be $99 each way and that would be about $1300 for the 4 of us. Now they dont have their fares out yet and wont for another month or so. ITs a 5 hour journey with a stop in the middle w Spirit. So... is it worth it to fly direct and know we have a direct flight or save the $500 and risk what MAY be with Spirit in a month or so???

With the 3 kids I would definitely pay more to go a direct shorter flight! Taking off and landing is the worst.
