Silly question about home-baked goods
I'm making brownies and cupcakes for Easter (decorated, of course). I usually put whatever I make in the refrigerator, but for Easter I would like to put them in a glass tier pedestal because they will look really cute when decorated (birds nests and butterfly designs on the cupcakes). My question is, is this safe? If I take it out right when people get to my house and leave it out for 5 or so hours until dessert, will it be okay to eat? I know store-bought pastries, etc., can be left out, but I'm not putting preservatives in it. I'm also wondering if the icing will be okay out of the fridge - not melting I mean (store bought icing). I get very paranoid about food - everything goes in the refrigerator (even bread). Any advice?

The only problem I think is with icing that is made from raw egg. Since you're using store-bought icing, I think you're fine.
I'd recommend keeping stuff covered to prevent drying out.

You can put them out on Easter and they will be fine!

i think you'll be fine.... especially if you're using store bought icing, because they don't keep that refridgerated in the store (for sometimes months probably), so its fine to be out for a few hours like somebody else said, i would just keep them covered with foil or saran wrap to keep the icing from getting too hard or drying out...
