(PSA) Got my passport...
I expedited my pasport because of all this hoopla that passports are taking like 10+weeks. I am travelling in mid-May and was afraid that if I did not expedite, then I would be cutting it close. I got my passport ONE WEEK after I mailed it. I sent it registered mail, and got my return receipt yesterday, and my passport today.
For anyone else who needs their passports and are afraid that it will take too long, I would not spend the extra 60 bucks to expedite since I think all of this propaganda is just to get more money from US citizens! 
I am glad I have it-- but just wanted to post this PSA. Now continue planning your trips!

Glad you got yours! Wish I expedited mine though... I sent it all Feb 16th- did not expedite-didn't think I needed to at the time- BUT, I still do not have mine!

I expedited mine 2 weeks ago and checked on the website and saw that it has not been processed yet. There's not even a record of my passport and I'm getting a little worried. I sent it certified mail and it did make it to the building, but I guess it hasn't been put into the system yet, nor has my check been cashed.
DH mailed his out to be expedited a week after I did and he got confirmation that his is done and will be delivered tomorrow.
I'm starting to freak out a bit. WE are not traveling until the middle of June, but still. I'm a worrier - I can't help it. We are going to Bermuda for a family wedding and I'm petrified that it won't come back in time. (even though I know it's 2 months away - I'm just nervous)
DH promised to send me a postcard. 
(sorry to hijack - I'm glad you got yours so quickly!)

well, I can relate because I am the freakin queen of worrying! But, I am sure it will be ok... I would call if it gets to be 4 weeks before your trip, then another two.. you'll get it!!

Wow, that was really fast! How do you like the picture? I know when I got mine back, I thought the picture looked even worse than when I sent it in. LOL.

That was definately fast--- we sent our in early February, we did not expedite it and we still haven't gotten ours back yet... I do know they cashed our checks though
I am hoping we get it soon we are not going away until the end of May..
This is very annoying..

I feel the same way!!! I was happy with the way my pic came out-- I even retouched it a bit using iPhoto  (I know I have serious problems). Then, the way they cut it and the stuff over it-- it looks worse than if it was a regular pic of me..
I was thinking about my passport over the weekend-- and I mailed it from the post office, which is in the same building as the big passport agency here on Hudson St-- they actually process passports there-- so I wonder if this is why it was so quick-- it didn't have anywhere to go.
Wait- that makes no sense-- cause I still mailed to the address they provided on the web site.

have you checked status on line?? When you check is cashed- -you can check online by putting in your SS #.
