ok.....I'm really losing steam
I've been trying for a LONG time to get a permanent guidance counselor job and I'm really discouraged and am thinking about possibly changing directions which make me VERY sad.
If anyone knows of possible positions on LI or in NYC BOE... PLEASE FM me with the info. I have already done 3 leave replacements and worked full-time for 1 year in a private school and was excessed.
TIA

Re: ok.....I'm really losing steam
I'm so sorry you're going through this. I don't know of any positions but I just wanted to let you know that I experienced this same thing for this school year. I had just been excessed, thought I could get somewhere with 2 years of teaching experience, but I was wrong.
One thing that did help me get interviews was to send directly to the schools instead of the central offices. I got two interviews for this year that way...unfortunately, they both wanted me back during our week in Alaska, which we had planned before I knew I was losing my job!
Hang in there, it'll happen for you. If you're willing to leave LI, you'll definitely find lots of places needing teachers. I went for my interview in NC in December, and I was hired on the spot for next year.
<....job dust for you!!!!

Re: ok.....I'm really losing steam
My mom works at a Catholic HS on LI....they have openings almost every year because people leave and go to Public Schools. It is an awesome place to work but the salary is not too great. It's a great stepping stone though...FM me and I can tell you where to send your resume to
