Re: Any North Carolina Teachers?

LOL I just replied to your post on the home board...looks like we're both teachers!

NY has reciprocity with NC as far as certification is concerned. However, you'll need to take the Praxis, which is their licensing exam. Depending on your area, you'll have to take either one or two tests. I'm K-6, so I had to take 2. I passed them both on the first try...won't say they were easy, but I think they were much easier than the NY ones.

This website really helped me a lot. Also, it's worth it to get on the phone w/ the licensure section. Even though it takes awhile to get through, the people are very knowledgeable and will answer anything you don't understand.

Best of luck...just sent in my NC license application! Chat Icon

Re: Any North Carolina Teachers?

Just today DH asked if I'd be interested in NC ...he's looking for IBM jobs down there.

I told him...based on how many LIF'ers are going down there- I'm in if he finds something.

Thanks for the certif. info....it helps to know the transition would be easy.

Great!
Can you give me any insight in the schools?

When their school years typically run/vacations?

Re: Any North Carolina Teachers?

just google whatever school district you are looking for, and they have all the info (calendar, salary schedule) online.

Re: Any North Carolina Teachers?

to apply go to www.teach4nc.org

you can fill out an electronic app there and send it out the public and private schools of your choice...I just chose the surrounding counties from where I live; which is Guilford County. The county I work for does pay better, so i'm lucky in that respect

you can search schools by county and go to www.greatschools.net and check out the school ratings.

ETA: school year runs from the last week in August to the First week in June
