Spinoff to Karen's TRAVEL/packing post

Someone just mentioned this to me the other day. winds up a bunch of us are going to Disney the same exact time Chat Icon

Well one mom said she preships her baby stuff ahead of time (diapers, wipes, formula, etc). to the hotel..

Has anyone done this?

We're taking the train, so it doesnt matter either way. I wont be lugging it onto a plane..
and Im sure I'll be stopping at walmart once or twice, so it seems just as easy to pick up right down the road while Im there...

I can't see spending the money to ship items to an area that has stores.

Nah, I wouldn't. Unless it's something really hard to find or very expensive at your destination.

I just read somewhere that this option has become very popular with all of the increased airline regulations, but I agree with Christine - why spend the $$ when you are going someplace where you can easily buy the same items? It's not like you were say, taking a cruise and may not have access to stores before you board.

I can also say that my MIL is shipping some stuff down to FL for vacation, because she didn't want to check any luggage and the whole 3oz-liquid ban is preventing her from bringing a lot of her toileteries on her carry-on.

to me this makes no sense....why ship these items or even pack them when you can just pick them up while you are there-there is a walmart every 1/2 mile there!
I like to travel as lite as possible-and only take necessities-I buy everything else when i get to my destination!

Re: Spinoff to Karen's TRAVEL/packing post

my sil does this all the time....she doesnt want to worry that they will be out of what she wants and she likes the time it saves....I personally think it is a waste of money.

I couldn't bring myself to pay the shipping, but I don't want to carry it either.

We always go shopping as soon as we get settled in and buy all the necessities there

I'll keep a stash for the day, plus an emergency. But diapers, wipes, anything to make my bags lighter I buy there! Chat Icon

Ditto.

I have a friend who preships and thinks it's the only way to travel, but it seems like a big PITA to me.

When I travel with Noah to the states I usually just bring enough changing stuff for the trip, once I get there, I go to a magic shop called CVS and there they have everything I could possibly need!

Voila! No need to carry anything at all!
