day 3 of low carb... a few questions...
So i started to do low carb/ atkins this weekend. I guess atkins really kicks in today because i have teh bars and shakes but all weekend i tried to stay away form carbs. i had steak at outback with just a veggie and a salad yesterday. Saturday i had grilled chicken and a salad when i went out. But i did cheat because i had diet soda and i tasted a piece of my friends pizza on saturday.
My question is this.... with Atkins does a bite of pizza or a half a diet saoda really mess up the whole point of the diet? Can i drink Coke Zero on this diet? TIA

I think it does mess it up. I know that with the South Beach diet the point was to "shock" your body in order to change the way it reactes when you REintroduce the good carbs. It does get easier, I would try to go all the way with it. Once you reach your goal then I think straying a bit is fine, but IMO it's not a great way to START a new program/diet. Good luck!

I agree with the Mikeswife06 about everything counting, especially during induction. You are trying to change the way your body processes food and burns energy and it won't truly happen if you don't follow induction the way it is written.
Diet sodas have never been a real problem for me so I continue to drink them and have been working on getting better about drinking water. I know for some people the artificial sweetner plays tricks with the body and increases cravings for carbs.
I would also recommend staying away from the bars until you are further along in the plan. Again they are not permitted during induction and they generally contain a lot sugar alcohols which can affect the insulin release in your body.
Good luck!

With Atkins, the entire point is to get into Ketosis. This state is when you have used up all your reserved carbohydrate for energy and you switch over to using your fat stores. Once you introduce carbs back into your system, you are thrown out of this ketosis state until you burn off the carbs you just ingested.

Stick with it - it gets easier.
I have been on low carb for 4 weeks now and I am feeling great.
I cut out sugar and I substitute it with Spenda.
I cut out soda. I drink Coffee with half and half and splenda, and I drink Water.
This is what I eat
Eggs with cheese for breakfast
Salads with chicken or steak etc....
tons of green veggies including broccoli, asparagus, brussel sprouts, green beans, cucumbers, etc....
Steak, chicken, fish, etc...
I cut out all condiments...
and I stopped eating dessert or anything after 7pm.
I am down 7lbs and I have noticed a lot of inches dissappear from my face and my waste.
I also noticed my clothing is starting to feel loose again
I walk 2 miles a day Scott
