Can someone tell me about NYC and maternity leave...

Not preggo or even TTC but I am trying to understand their maternity policy....you need to save your sick days is that right?

You get 6 weeks for regular and 8 weeks for a C......YOU ONLY GET PAID IF YOU BANKED THAT MANY SICK DAYS.......after you have exhausted your days then you can borrow......you maternity can be extended to 12 weeks FMLA but not paid if you don't have sick days and you stay on medical during this period

Its confsuing as hell.

You get 6 weeks or 8 week depending if you have csection.

You muist use all your days in your bank as part of the six week or eight weeks. If you dont have enough days to carry you to the 6 or 8 week mark you can borrow up to 20 days. Then you can also do a 30 day grace period which means you get paid for weekends and holidays.So if your 30 days happens to be in a month where have a vacation you will get paid more than if your 30 day grace was in march. Oh and the 30 days is just that days not shool days 30 calender days.

After that you can do FMLA.

ALso any holidays tha tfall while you are on leave dont count as a day. So for example i was out in october i was using my own days at that point and bc of a jewish holiday and columbus day i didnt have to count those as days. FM me if you wnat more einfo.
I only know so much bc my aunt is a secretary in a school by you actually and knows her stuff inside and out. Thank god for her, my secretary didnt know a thing.
