how do you know if you are dehydrated?
I am feeling wierd!

PS- and if you are, what do you do about it? Can you ust drink lots of water?

Drink a lot of water - at least 8 8oz glasses a day. I drink more than that.

They say you should drink enough so that your pee is close to clear. They always get on my case for not drinking enough when I pee in the stupid cup.

Yup... your pee should be fairly clear throughout the day. I always know I'm dehydrated when I get headaches and I don't have to pee as often during the day. You should definitely get at least 2 liters of water a day when you're pregnant...

If you are able to drink water then do it! And lots of it. If your not a water fan have Gatorade.
If you are dehydrated you get to spend a few hours in the ER hooked to an IV. I had to do that in the beginning of my pregnancy.

I agree, I could tell when my lips get dry too, and my face and hands are dry (wierd i know), but drink up. It isn't too late.
IF you really feel weak then go to the ER.

Dehydration during pregnancy is common and not good for your baby. Remember if you're dehydrated so is your baby. A pregnant woman should drink 64oz of H2O a day. The only reason I know this is because I got REALLy dehydrated this summer when I was only 8 weeks pregnant. I was in ER overnight and it took 3 liters of fluid to reseverse my dehydration, whatever you do don't let in get that far. Drink, drink and drink!

Dry lips, yellow urine, cramping in the lower abdomen, even sometimes charlie horse style cramps.. Dry hands and cotton mouth is also common...
I ended up admitted into the hospital 6 times with my first for dehydration.. the first time I just wasn't feeling "right".... and I had to go a total of about ten times, just to get re-fueled..
They told me that some women are prone to dehydration.. Gatorade and water was what they recommended! Lots and LOTS of water! Best wishes.. if you continue feeling funny.. GO-- things can get a lot more uncomfy, very quickly!

I've been reading a lot on HCG levels too and read that being dehydrated can cause your levels not to go up or even drop. I was told my the nurse at my Dr's office to drink 1 gallon of water a day!

when your lips are chapped, your body is already significantly dehydrated.
By the time you are actually thirsty, your body has lost 1% of it's fluids.
It's best to sip all day long instead of drinking a bunch of water when you feel thirsty.
Also, I believe your fluid intake has an effect on your glucose tolerance test....I KNOW I don't drink enough, and lo and behold-I failed the 1 hr!!

pinch the skin on your hand, does the elasticity allow it to go back to normal immediately, or does it stay pinched looking? If it stays pinched looking you are severly dehydrated.
