help need demo lesson for nyc school 4th or 5th grade any ideas

just spoke to the women who arranges the interviews i aksed if i needed a demo she said i should be prepared with at least a mini lesson. i asked what subject she said most people do literacy. Shoudl i have one in a few subjects or just one for literacy? Also i asked what topic and she said maybe using my faviorte book or something. AHHH help i need to get out of here and closer to my sitter!!!

I teach in Region 5. If you want to impress someone maybe you can do a literacy read-aloud based on the skill of the week from the NYC BOE. I can tell you if you are in Region 5 what skill it will be/

Did they say how long? Do they use TC? I had a demo in a NYC school for second grade. It went etremely well, with the help of some people on this board. My mini lesson was only 5 minutes. And that's what they wanted. Thats why I asked. TC is very different.

yes tc model.teh secretary said sometimes she asks for demo on teh spot sometimes not. now she said have mini lesson prepared but i wantto have the whole lesson

Ok.. well I can't really help with that age group.. I teach first and second. But.. maybe something with cause and effect? Just keep it as simple as possible, be engaging and energetic and use their language. U can't lose! :)

Grammar-Eats, Shoots and Leaves-It's a book that you can easily base a grammer/puncutation lesson on.

I spoke to the 4th grade teachers at my school. They agreed a punctuation lesson would be great, and what the kids needed.
