Re: Charlotte NC
When are you going? I just got a visitors guide from Charlotte, too bad it was after we got back from our trip from there, LOL. I can mail it to you if you want.
We did a bunch of kid stuff, we went to a children's museum, and an amusment park. We also hit a minor league ball game too which was fun.
There is also a race track, Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Re: Charlotte NC
The rafting park is great. We never get on the water though, always too late with our reservation....just call ahead if interested. But DH does bike there, its 12 miles of trails and you can rent the bike there.park
If you golf, there are tons of places.
my sister and I went to a tractor pull at the racetrack, it was a lot of fun. even it there's not a big race going on, its a fun night out.
on our days off, we usually take the 2.5 hour drive into the mountains. I love the blue ridge parkway. Grandfather mountain is really nice, also visited the caverns. Asheville has tons of shops and great food.
If you want to stay local, uptown is super clean and great places to eat/drink.
My favorite thing to do in Charlotte is to go to Birkdale Village. Shopping and lunch, I love it up there. They have a really nice driving range as well.

Re: Charlotte NC
MIchelle - if you could mail me or give me the book, I'd love that
Janice - stop saying golf - we were planning to leave the clubs home...but now we might bring them, but wuoldn't it be really hot there on Labor day weekend? The caverns sound great - I'll google them
We're staying in Uptown

Re: Charlotte NC
Uptown has a lot to offer - you have to hit my favorite irish pub Connolly's on 5th, close to intersection of Tryon (the main street in Uptown). There are some great restaurants - Blue, Capital Grille, Zink - all of which are $$ though.
Check out www.visitcharlotte.com
Janice is right - great golf courses out here too. For shopping, I really enjoy going to South Park Mall, on the corner of Fairview and Sharon Rd.
Also, take a ride just outside Uptown down Queens Road West - it is probably one of the most georgous streets around and the houses - !
If you need more info, let us know!
