I feel like a loser (Vent)

I just did the Billy Blank's boo camp video and I realized how horribly out of shape I am. Since I had the baby a few weeks ago my stomach is like mush and my body is so out of whack. I was not in the best of shape before the baby, probably could have lost at least 10 lbs, but now it is even worse. I feel like I will never get back into shape. All through high school and college I was so athletic and played sports, even earned a black belt in karate and I can barely make it through a tae-bo video only a few years later Chat Icon How did I let myself get like this???Chat Icon

You have to give yourself time Chat Icon

It took your body 9 months to get the 'preggo shape' now it will take a little bit of time to get your shape back and it will take a little bit of time to get your stamina back.

Just start off slowly - only do a little bit and each time, try and do a little more.
Don't try to do too much - it will just frustrate you in the long run

Billy's Boot camp is a really strenuous workout in my opinion to start off with. Maybe you want to try to work your way up to it. You can do it!

If you just had a baby a few weeks ago its way too soon to push yourself. You really need to ease back into working out. And you CAN get back to where you were (or better!) but don't expect it to happen overnight, your body has a lot of recovering to do still!

I totally agree with what everyone has said. If you only had your baby a few weeks ago, you should really be careful about doing too much too soon. Start off slowly, with some walking and maybe some light weight lifting. I've been working out for years, worked out through most of my pregnancy, and this is how I recovered and got my body back - by starting out easy and progressing from there.

It's frustrating I know, but give yourself a break - you just put your body through some major trauma and it needs time to heal! You will get your stamina back in time - don't give up! Chat Icon

Re: I feel like a loser (Vent)

You sound like me - we had our babies around the same time... I have cried to my OBGYN at each visit and she told me that I will lose the weight (she has 4 kids and looks GREAT!) - your body just changes and shifts - I mean - come ON - we just had a BABY!!! It really will take time...

Since Cailen was 2 weeks old, I went for walks - I was also in great shape before I got pregnant, and in my 1st trimester before the morning sicjkness rendered me incapable of doing anything... then I was tired so I never worked out, so after I had him, I was back to square one...

Walking helped. At 1st I was tired and not motivated, then the walks got longer, I walked faster. Just recently I began incorporating weights again in the evenings, or after my walk. I am just starting to feel my body slowly, SLOWLY come back. Its a feeling I get. I still can hardly fit into a lot of my clothes, but each week, something else fits....

This summer I plan on going back to the trails, doing hikes, and attempting to prepare for the Cow Harbor 5K in September... I like having a goal other than losing weight. Then losing weight is secondary. In September, I am resuming my membership at my cardio kickboxing gym (I never went in the summers, so suspended my membership during my pregnancy - pretty much for a year!!!) I am sure that will be difficult for me even after a summer of hiking and jogging because its a different kind of stamina and muscle groups - but NOTHING kicks my a s s like kickboxing. I have some DVDs I am going to go back to - but dont beat yourself up - Billy is hard even when you are fit!!! Just keep at it and do the best you can/ You will se, each week, you will go a few more kicks, your punches will get a little stronger, and you will start to feel like yourself again!!!
