how long do you have to be off antidepressants for it to be out of your system? or more specifically, to try to get pregnant? (NOT FOR THE TTC BOARD!)

specifically paxil cr. anyone know? my doctor recommended 3 months, but i know that's the "safe" amount of time. how long does it stay in your system?

I don't know about women, but I know there is a way with men to know how long the sperm cycle lasts. I think with men it's a 3 month sperm cycle, so after 3 months it is supposed to be safe. My DH is on a medication for nerve pain and the doc told him 3 months --- because it has fertility side effects, but just to be on the safe side we'll wait 6 months after he comes off of it.....eventually....since we're not TTC now anyway.

My doc recommended 3-4 months. To be safe personally I would wait 6 months.

I have taken Paxil for years. I stopped taking it about a month before I TTC and started taking a low dose, 10 mg., around 10 weeks. DS is perfectly fine. I dont think you need to wait 6 months. The medicine leaves your system in a couple of days-couple of weeks.
