Formula Fed Babies

My baby is 6 days old. I notice on his tongue, he has a white build up which I think is formula. But I am nervous about thrush. Did your babies have a build-up of formula---did it go awayafter a certain amount of time after a feeding? Thank you!

Yes! At her one month check-up I pointed it out to the doc. and she was concerned about thrush, but was able to scrape some of it off with the tongue depresser, so she determined it was just formula. She told me to try to wipe it off with a washcloth, but that just doesn't work out. Although, since they scraped it, it doesn't stick as much.

I just tried to wipe it off with a damp washcloth, but it didnt seem to come off. I'm going to try to not worry about it. I really think it is just formula--but you never know. We see the dr on Thurs, so I will feel better then. Thanks for answering back.

Thrush is usually in the back of the mouth on the cheek. I would just mention it to the dr. at your next visit to be sure, but sounds like it's just formula to me.

Julianna has this.. The Dr checked her for thrush, but that has to be on the gums and cheeks....it is just build up of the formula. She is 2 months now and the build up lessened alot!
