Vent: Some people are so f*****ing cheap!!!
I'm writing this under an alias, b/c I'm ashamed of how upset this makes me, but I'm sure I'm not alone.
What do you do about ridiculously cheap family members????
I've sort of accepted my ILs -- they aren't from the east coast and they think they are living in the depression (even though my FIL tells us exactly how much he makes on the stock market quarterly -- uhhh, thanks, we're struggling to pay student loans and you have 6-digits coming in, good for you!!!)
When my MIL offered to knit our future DC a blanket, I said great. Then we went to the yarn store and after picking out $40 worth of yarn she conveniently walks away from me at the register!
Now I get something off my registry worth $50 and the gift card is signed by my aunt and 3 adult cousins -- all of whom I have bought engagment, shower, wedding, and baby gifts for!!! (btw they did the same thing for my wedding shower -- everybody signs one card!!!)
UGhhhhhh . . . I don't mean to be greedy, but what's with these people??????

WHY are you paying for your own blanket? She can't afford the $ 40?
I am the wrong person to ask about this bc I HATE cheap people and I cut them out of my life fastttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!
Sorry you had to deal with this.
an AUNT and 3 COUSINS can't each spend 50.. that is a lil nutty kookoo to me!

I hear you -- except it is MY family.
None of my SILs (my brothers' wives) came to my shower, didn't send gifts. I have been giving there childres (3 each) Christmas, birthday, graduation, etc. gifts for the past 20 years - generous ones mind you.
My oldest sister, who is assisting in the birth, gave me - together with her 22-year-old daughter to whom I have been EXTREMELY generous her whole life -- a set of 3 carters onsies. Uh thanks -- A friend I had never even MET before gave me these with the matching blankets, which was lovely!! But just the onesies, from my SISTER AND favorite niece??
I was mortified at the shower.
DH's SILs meanwhile were incredibly generous....

I know -- my cousins I'm especially ****ed at. One is pregnant right now and for her shower (last month) I sent her a hand-made sweater and something off her registry. Its not even the $$ (maybe they don't think a hand-made sweater costs anything -- but it actually does cost more than you'd think) -- its the fact that my cousins never buy anything for anyone. Their mom always buys one thing and signs all thier names to it. I just feel like they should grow up already!

I hear you. my il's were like that at my shower. my mil bought ne gifts, but nothing off my registry. well asisde from the measuring cups and spoons that she got from the dollar store. nothing wrong with that, but i registered and bed, bath and beyond, not dollar tree.
dh's cousins and aunts all chipped on a few gifts too. pizzed me off b/c i have bought baby shower and bridal shower gifts on my own for almost all of them.
i can't wait to see what happens at my baby shower.

OMG I think we're from the same family!! LOL My inlaws did the SAME EXACT THING! I registered for Cuisinart measuring cups from BBB and my MIL gave me dollar store version. I am not kidding! I mean the cuisinarts were maybe $15! Come on now!
Already we were at a yard sale and she's looking at baby stuff, and I said "You will NOT get my kid anything from a yard sale!!!" (i'm sorry, but I don't want to own other peoples used crap, just a pet peeve of mine)
Can't wait for the shower!

You're welcome  If you got duplicates, did you exchange them? I can try to dig up the receipt 
As for family being cheap...unfortunately, I have learned that not everyone will return the genorosity that you have shown them. You have to learn to expect nothing...this way, you aren't disappointed

First of all, are we related? Do we have the same cousins? Same thing happened at my wedding shower and I know will happen at my baby shower. Unbelievable...Sorry you have to deal with them.
