WINTHROP HOSPITAL
For those of you who delivered in Winthrop hospital and had a private room - was your husband allowed to stay over night with you? How strict are they about this or about the visiting hours for husbands?
I had an emergency c-section with my first delivery and I was in LIJ in lake success and there were no limitations for my husband. it was great. He stayed with me all 5 days. I couldn't have imagined it any other way because recovery from a c-section is brutal.
I'm thinking about switching to dr. Hanauer and she is affiliated with Winthrop and from what I've been hearing The husbands can't spend the night. I'm worried about that.

Re: WINTHROP HOSPITAL
If you have a private room I don't think they are as strict but overall they pretty strict with visiting. For the dads, their visiting time is 9am to 10pm and the latest he stayed with me was 10:30. I guess you could try and him stay and worst case they tell him he has to leave. I also had a private room and will be getting another private room this time around.

Re: WINTHROP HOSPITAL
Someone asked that question when I had a tour there. Private room or not, dads cannot stay at night.
I am sure there are "exceptions" but as a general rule, no.

Re: WINTHROP HOSPITAL
I took a private tour of the hospital earlier this week. They told me they are very strict about the visiting rules and DH can only be there from 10-10...no staying over, even with a private room. The nurse giving the tour said even when she delivered there 9 months ago they were strict with her!!!! For me its not a problem, I dont mind DH having to come home bc he has to take care of our dog.

Re: WINTHROP HOSPITAL
I had a private room and my DH couldn't stay.
Honestly I was happy that he could get a good night sleep in his own bed, shower in my nice clean shower at home!
You are both going to be so exhausted and all I wanted to do was go to sleep. Since I was BF the baby was brought to me every few hours, I got up, took a shower and ate breakfast. The time flew and he was back in the hospital at 10am. Those are the fastest 12 hours of you life!

Re: WINTHROP HOSPITAL
I thought I would freak out being alone, but I had a private room and they really leave you alone at night, close the door, watch Tv and you feel like your at hoem in your bed...they dont start bothering you till about 6am.....and I was FINE alone without DH....
Also with the c section, take a pain killer before bedtime and you will be fast asleep.
I hated waiting for DH in the morning's till 10:00 but they keep you busy with the dr's, nurses, Breakfest etc etc
Although when I wa sthere, they were not strict about the DH's leaving. Most left between 10-10:30 but I saw some there till at least 12:00 every night...

Re: WINTHROP HOSPITAL
I was in a shared room, but right next to a private room. The woman who stayed there had her DH there until at least 12m.
If you are BFing, they will wake you 4 times between when visiting hours are over, and the next morning's visiting hours. Honestly I wanted DH there the whole time, but once it came down to it I was glad to have some alone time. The sleep you can get in the hospital is so important because once you come home you can kiss it goodbye!
