Opinions on what u would do RE induction
I am still having doubts if i am doing the right thing going to get things started tomorrow b/c technically i am not scheduled for an induction tomorrow, my doctor just said come in and we will prob just keep you since i am dilated and effaced and having the irregular contractions. She was actually all for it and kept repeating the option LOL so i don't feel like i don't have her support (although she wont be the doctor on call)
So of course both families were supportive and excited and then my mom calls last night to say maybe i should wait b/c it could end in a c-section, etc and starts getting me scared (and my DH) that maybe i am making the wrong decision and i should wait another week and see if he comes on his own. Being that my office waits a full TWO weeks before inducing (it would be July 4th) and the thought of not going till next wed, i can't imagine it. Do you guys think i am making a bad choice and should just suck it up wait it out the last week? I would feel horrible if me or the baby were in jeopardy (e.g had to have a c-section, etc) b/c of my decision not to let him try naturally. but this pregnancy has been so rough i am so ready to be done, i just cant keep throwing up when i am almost 41 weeks, and having contractions on and off through the day and night!

Re: Opinions on what u would do RE induction
as you know I had my appointment on Monday last week to discuss an option to induce... well, I didnt have to do it because my water broke that morning... anyways, I was not having strong contractions and ended up being induced anyways... I would say since you are dilated and effaced, chance of having c/s might not be that high... I was 2cm/100% when I went into the hospital, they started pitocin at 9am and I had our child at 5:23pm, which is not bad at all for a first baby... of course, there are no guarantees with these things, but you will never know because labor is very unpredictable... whatever decision you make, just make sure you are comfortable with it

I know this is a tough call, but if you doctor feels you and baby are ready then you shouldn't feel guilty. I wish you all the best.

This also happened to me. I wasn't progressing on my own and they ended up giving me the Pitocin to move things along. I would go in and have your baby!!

Re: Opinions on what u would do RE induction
I was induced with DD almost 7 years ago. The way i looked at it was, i could end up in a c-section at any time even if i wasnt induced. if you are already making progress you probably wont need a section. Its a personal decision, and no one can make it for you. If it were I, and i were late, and already making progress, i would go and get the extra help to speed things up. Good Luck!!! whatever you decide will be the right decision for you and the end result will be the same, a beautifull baby.

Re: Opinions on what u would do RE induction
I was induced due to a blood disorder / medication that I take and I wound up with a c-section...which for me, went WONDERFULLY
don't worry, even if you need a c-section,. it is not that bad....the important thing is that baby and mom are healthy...good luck

I wouldnt wait...Im sure the doctor feels that an induction is the way to go for a reason.

Re: Opinions on what u would do RE induction
I would still do it.. I figure it this way, whether you progress on pitocin-which alot of women get anyways to keep contraction consistent-or if you progress without it-I don't think it matters, if you fail to progress, I think it's just your body.
A c section is not the worst thing in the world. What matters is that your baby comes into this world healthy. JMO
Good luck in your decision

Re: Opinions on what u would do RE induction
thanks ladies for all ur opinions and thought after much discussion with my DH and family, i think i am going to hold off a little longer and see if he comes on his own. He's doing good and besides being uncomfortable, i am also doing OK. Plus they will def induce me on July 4th if he's not here by then and i have NST on thurs and i am sure if they feel i need to be admitted sooner my doctors will do it no matter how busy the weekend is for them. so i may be end up being a July mommy after all!

Re: Opinions on what u would do RE induction
This might be a stupid question - but is your regular doctor working July 4th?? That would be my only concern about being induced on a holiday. Although I guess if your Doctor is scheduling it for then, they are scheduled to work.

Just lurking, but I think you are making a wonderful decision by waiting. In most cases I think it's best to let the baby come when he decides he's ready.

Re: Opinions on what u would do RE induction
I would do it.
Listen, I CRIED when they told me I didn't have a choice and that I was being induced. But it was fine, it really was.
But you are different, you are a week past your due date and this little boy just needs a little push in the butt to get out, there is nothing wrong with that.
