How should I pack for the cruise?

I don't want to post this on the traveling board. Not too much traffic there.

Anways I needed to ask how I should pack for DS for the cruise in 2 weeks!

I am thinking of packing a little suitcase with his food and maybe some toys and books. Now for packing his diapers. How should I do it. Should I pack some in his diapers and some in my diaper bag? I plan on bringing about 70-80 diapers, I counted how many diapers per day that I change and added some extras. Now I can't pack 80 diapers in my bag I won't have any space left for anything else. I was thinking of packing what I will be needing for the day (until we get our suitcases) in my diaper bag.

What is an absolute must to have in my diaper bag besides from the obvious diapers, wipes, rash cream, medicine...

Re: How should I pack for the cruise?

I am going to Hilton Head, SC in August with my DD who will be 17 mos old by then. We are staying in a rental house by the beach and renting a crib and high chair.

Of course, you will be on a boat with less access to basics, but I think you will need lots of clothes, shoes etc. Medicines like baby tylenol, plenty of diapers, wipes, bottles, sippy cups, jarred food, juice and snacks if he still eats that. For the sun - def sunscreen and a few hats. I am also bringing some small toys, books, her stuffed animal she sleeps with and a few pool toys.

ETA: bed sheets and blankets if they are not provided too..

Re: How should I pack for the cruise?

We just came back from a cruise and this is what i packed for DD:

-enough diapers for the whole cruise (i estimated how many we use in a day and threw some extra in)
-all kinds of meds (tylenol, motrin, cough med, etc)
-whole container of balmex, whole re-fill pack of wipes
-2 outfits for each day (one for during the day and the evening)
-a bunch of onsies
-I brought a couple jars of baby food but DD eats table food so it wasn't an issue. I did however bring enough stage 2 fruits for lunch/dinner
-i also brought snacks (cookies, puffs)
-DD had a small backpack of toys she could play with

for her diaper bag i bascially loaded it as if we were gonna be our all day

we basically had one big luggage and 1 small one. keep in mind the rooms are small so we limited our baggage to that. Another way to pack things is in a carry on collapsable type bag which can be folded and stored away.

Also- we brought our smallest stroller possible.

If you can keep most of the diapers in the vacuum-sealed packaging, it will take up less space. Those things are packed pretty tight!

We went on an airplane trip to Oregon the last two weeks, and we we carried enough with us for a day or so. It's easier when you travel to a city, since we could stop at a store nearby and buy what we needed.

Sorry to hijack but can you bring a small blow up pool?

I know that children not potty trained can't go in the poolsChat Icon

Re: How should I pack for the cruise?

Are you flying to the cruise or leaving local?

The last few times we cruised out of NY/NJ, people actually just slapped a luggage tag on a small case of diapers, I thought that was so smart! It was delivered to the room like any other piece of luggage.

Although I guess you could do that if you were flying too - maybe just buy them at your destination?

You could do that just make sure you throw the water in your bathroom and not over the balcony. We didn't have a balcony room when we went but i have heard people do this.

We are sailing out of NY.

Our destination is Bermuda and Bahamas. I'd rather bring my own just in case I don't find any.

Can you just bring a case and treat it like another piece of luggage so it doesn't take up any room in your suitcase?

Well what I was thinking of doing is bringing a smaller suitcase for just the diapers and the food. Once I get the suitcase delivered to the room I can just put the food away and keep that suitcase on the balcony or something...it's a minisuite so i'm sure the balcony will be a bit bigger...
