We use balsamic vinegar( enouigh to cover bottom of shallow bowl)
olive oil
dijon mustard ( depends on your taste)
salt
pepper
and chopped garlic

Add all ingredients to bowl and whisk in Olive oil until desired thickness.

We use this marinade (also a bit of sugar and thyme) for potatoes.

Boil up some small red potatoes for 12ish minutes, add in some green beans and boil for another 3 minutes.

Drain, let cool and mix up the marinade you posted above and then put it over the potato/green bean combo.

This is a nice summer salad because it does not need to be in the fridge - plus its different than the normal potato salad.

I'll usually make a batch big enough for two nights - keep the leftovers in the fridge for a side for another day. I've had it in the fridge for 2 days and it tastes great.
