NYC Salary Step and Differential - new hire

How efficient is the DOE at processing this paperwork? When do you actually find out what your salary will be?

Also, has anyone had any experience with getting an increased salary step for non-teaching experience? Were you given credit for previous work experience or no?

You only get the steps for certain programs now. They are extremely slow their. One of my co workers got a step with the same paperwork as another who didn't. I would wait till you get your position in a school and then ask the secretary

Again, I was told by my case manager to contact the Payroll department to get any paperwork I may need.

Do you have a case manager? That person should be answering all new hire questions.

She never answers my e-mails. I feel like they think I am a nuisance when I ask questions. So FRUSTRATING!!

I just got back from the DOE.. the only thing you can hand in now is the salary step and salary differential.. everything else waits until sept. I would do that asap and hand it directly to the DOE.

Great! thanks for the info! I am waiting on one more transcript and then I am going to drop it all off at the DOE.
