Pet Medical Insurance
Does anyone have pet medical insurance? If so, what company do you go through? Do you think it is worth it?
TIA!

Re: Pet Medical Insurance
I use Veterinary pet insurance. You can choose different plans, one covers everything including routine visits and one is more for emergencies. They have the deductibles posted on their website I think, or I'm sure you can ask them to fax it to you. It came with the packet when I enrolled. http://www.petinsurance.com/

I have it too for just my one dog who had some issues when she was a pup. I have the max plan on her..which costs $400 a year.
You pay the vet upfront, then submit any claims.

Re: Pet Medical Insurance
sorry... another Q
if we have to pay up front & then get reimbursed - then what is the point of the insurance?

Well, by getting reimbursed for the services, you are not out that money.
A dog swallows a foriegn object. Vet bills can go from $1300 - $2500, depending upon how involved the surgery is; you can get back almost $1400.
Almost all of my DH's clients that have pet insurance, are very happy with it.

Re: Pet Medical Insurance
I had VPI for a few years and didn't like the payouts and the monthly premium kept going up so I switched to Petcare through Petco and LOVE it. IMO it's a much better insurance. My dog is quite accident prone so we have really tested them both out.
