Flying to Italy - please help!
Hi girls! I am planning a surprise trip to Italy for DH's 30th bday. We will be flying into Rome and out of Venice and back to NY. On the return leg, would you prefer to connect in Milan or Rome? Is one airport more manageable than the other? Any help you can provide would be great!
Also, if anyone has any recommended hotels in Venice, I would appreciate it. I am having the most trouble with this city!

Re: Flying to Italy - please help!
We stayed at Hotel Orion . Nothing fancy, just a place to sleep. The price and location are great!
We also flew into Rome and back from Venice. We got a direct flight home from Venice to JFK through Alitalia. HTH!

In Venice stayed at the Hotel Principe...we loved it. As far as airport I have only been to Rome and it was fine. I took the train from Venice to Florence to Rome and flew Rome to JFK!

We're flying into Venice (stopover in Rome) and out of Rome (direct flight).
In Rome I believe we are going to stay at the Star Metropole.
Enjoy your trip!

Re: Flying to Italy - please help!
My hubby and I just went in March for his 30th....
We flew into Venice and out of Rome- You can get direct flights to venice if interested- Alitalia has them... not sure about others...
Hotels in Venice can range quite a bit...
Are you looking for nice and reasonably priced- or more upscale?
We stayed at Loconda Vivaldi and enjoyed it. It was a small hotel, but beautiful. Reasonably priced- nice location near St. Mark's Square and on the Grand Canal.
Friends stayed at Hotel Daniellii and lvoed it- much more expensive though.

We stayed at The Inn at the Spanish Steps in Rome. It's a small hotel but we loved it.
