So, my background is in HR but...
I have been thinking recently that maybe since I have been so unhappy lately that I should try something else. I am good with people, good at project oriented work and problem solving. I like artsy stuff / design / history. I would love to work at a museum or something but let's get real. I have my BS in Business Admin and 7 yrs of experience...I know I def. have some transferrable skills. I do not want to get into commission based sales.
Any ideas?

You could still work at a museum, but in HR or on the operations side of things. Is going back to school at all an option?

Nope...at this point I don't have the energy or the patience. I really just want to put in a solid good day and a decent company where I can stay put for a while....

You could try for a cataloging position. It is mostly clerical but you' d have some exposure to the art. You could also work contracts for galleries. HR experience might help in that area.

What about something like Recruitment, or a Recruitment Advertising Agency (like Bernard Hodes or something) You can use your HR experience, its project based (well what I do is) and its enjoyable because you get to do a lot of different stuff, while having a routine on a daily basis. I do Candidate Management and I really enjoy it...its everything that you mentioned!

I don't think that any museum job is going to pay you very well at all, just something to consider. I did some catalouging work for an internship in college and it was very boring work.
