A gift for someone who likes to bake cakes
What should I get my mentor? She loves to back cakes and is soo soo soo good at it. I was thinking of making a gift basket of tools she might need. Any recommendations on where and what?

The William Sonoma outlet has some great stuff. Really unique baking pans. Great rubber spatulas, even some cool cake mixes.

Yes! They have cake pans in all different shapes, and cake mixes. LOVE that store!

Re: A gift for someone who likes to bake cakes
If you are anywhere near Manhasset, check out Sur La Table on Northern Boulevard. They are a fabulous kitchen store with a lot of baking-related products. They also have a website. They have a far wider selection than Williams-Sonoma and are more competatively priced on a lot of items. As an avid baker, I can tell you that all of those interestingly shaped baking pans are a lot of fun, BUT dark pans tend to cause overbaking of the outside of the cake. Good luck with your fun idea.

I second W&S but you could also try grannies candies just south of Sunrise Hwy on Wantagh Ave. They have tons of stuff!
