Temping?
Really useful, or just another thing to obsess and stress over?

Re: Temping?
Extremely useful. Although if you're concerned about getting stressed about it, you may be better off trying without it for a couple of cycles and see what happens.
I temped before we were TTC as birth control or "natural family planning". I found it extremely useful to know what was going on w/ my body (although I admit to obsessing here & there, but I think I would have without temping too).

Re: Temping?
Useful to see what is happening when, you know? Also confirms that you've ovulated, if that's a concern. (Temps will show shift/rise only if ovulation occured.)

For me, it was just another thing to stress over. My temps are erratic and it's very hard to judge by them. My dr advised me to stop temping! But I think I'm in the minority.

Re: Temping?
Before I knew I had IF problems, you'd never catch me doing it - I obsess too much and felt it would drive me crazy.
After my surgeries, I was told to do it in order to identify or rule out any other problems not detectable by my surgery. After three cycles of temping, there was nothing to report - my charts and temps are fine and my doctor said all was well. Temping also clued me in that I was pregnant and sadly clued me in that I was going to miscarry. I took the month of from temping while taking the month off from TTC but will resume towards the end of the week.
You may wish to try a month or two with BDing every other day for a couple of cycles and then temping afterwards. You may not need to temp, but it will only help if you do.

Re: Temping?
I would recommend a few cycles without it before diving in. I only charted AF and CM the first 2 months. Then I added OPK's on the third month. In this, the 4th month, I added temping.

Re: Temping?
Extremely useful, esp if you do not have 'textbook' cycles (which I did not). We tried for 1 month of just going for it and I wound up with a 39 day cycle; the next month I temped / charted and used digital OPK's and wound up with a 48 day cycle... and BFP.
I am a planner and an obsessor so I actually obsessed far more the first cycle than I did the second as I had no idea where in it I was. The temping and OPK's helped me take control (or charge, if you will ) and it resulted in the ultimate prize

What changes in temping made you realize you would miscarriage, only if you don't mind explaining.

Not at all - especially if it helps someone.
I took a couple of HPTs at 14DPO (give or take a day - Im going from memory) and they were all positives. The next day, when I was due to see my doctor to confirm the pregnancy, my temperature plummeted well below the coverline.
I had a blood test later that morning and the doc confirmed the pregnancy in the afternoon at my appointment. HOWEVER, based on the days past when I was supposed to get AF, he was able to tell that the progesterone and HCG levels were not where they needed to be. My pregnancy was a chemical pregnancy and not a viable one. He predicted my m/c which happened only 3 days later.
It s u ck s but I am glad I was clued in or I would have been terrified.

Re: Temping?
I have found it helpful because my cycles aren't textbook, but I wouldn't call them irregular either. In the beginning it was easy to obsess but that has gotten better with time. We first tried going based on CM, then added OPKs, and for the past 6 months have added temping.

Re: Temping?
overall i found temping useful, but i couldn't do it for too many cycles because i started obsessing over it (as i tend to do with things like this). plus, i am a notoriously bad sleeper as it is, and introducing another source of pressure surrounding sleep-time (e.g., you have to be asleep for at least 3 hours before you temp, you can't have gotten up, etc) didn't work for me. in general my cycle is very regular and after the first couple of cycles, temping didn't tell me anything i didn't already know. but it was informative at first...

Re: Temping?
i found it extremely useful. At first i used it just to have a clue when AF might show up. A few months later, it helped me get my BFP!
With that being said, i think it's somethign that is just not for everyone. A friend of mine just coudl not remember to temp BEFORE she got out of bed to do anything...so it really didn't work for her.

really? I haven't read that yet... there is no way that I can do this then. If I could sleep for three hours straight, I would be ecstatic. And I drink a lot throughout the night... I get very thirsty, so I get up to pee as well.

I didn't temp b/c of the same reason. I had a hard enough time remembering to take my BCP at the same time everyday. It wasn't for me, but I had a pretty regular cycle.
