best window brands?
I'm looking to replace 2 windows in my house - 1 casement window and 1 double hung. Are Andersens really superior?
What's a good brand that's still affordable but doesn't have to be special ordered and take forever to arrive?!

Anderson are great, but Pella is top of the line (with a hefty price to match)

Re: best window brands?
Anderson, Jeld-Wen, Pella, Marvin...they're all good - as long as you don't get vinyl replacements (imo).

If you don't want to break the bank, Andersens are the way to go.

LOL It refers to the housing or whatever you call it. Vinyl replacements are cheaper and the glass is held in vinyl. Casement windows, replacement windows - they have wood in the interior, vinyl clad exterior - they're more expensive, better made and more efficient.

My dh is a contractor and he would agree with the above.

Re: best window brands?
WE bought all our replacement windows at Lowe's and bought Pella. Then we had a general contractor install them. I love them, I think the price is worth it.

Re: best window brands?
we are getting the Andersen 400 Series installed next week. Our contractor said he has all andersens.
My mom put andersens in our house in 1988 and they still look new.

Re: best window brands?
My parents just COMPLETELY remodeled their home and installed Pella french doors and windows and have had nothing but problems. Their customer service is good, but the windows shouldn't need service...they were JUST installed!!
I have Anderson windows. I have lived here for almost 10 years...the windows are here for 15 years. NEVER had a problem!! Love Anderson!!

Re: best window brands?
I have installed most everything when it comes to windows and doors in all different price ranges. From custom colored hurricane proof Marvins all the way through the line to Mq's and the least problems are from Anderson. Either hurricane proof or standard series. I ALWAYS recommend Anderson. It is a top quality product with the good service reps. The key to their longevity is the one piece nailing flange. No water infiltration when installed by a professional. I have nothing good to say about replacement windows though.
