Re: diapers/wipes
For what? When you first come home? Most people use Pampers Swadders as it seems that is what the hospitals use.
As for wipes, you should use sensitive wipes with no scent or anything.
We use Luvs and Huggies Overnights. I also use Huggies wipes.
It isn't good to pre buy too many diapers though, you don't know what size your baby will wear or what diaper will work best.

Honestly it is a preference thing. There are a lot of factors. Some people love generics like Target's brand or Wal-Mart's (white cloud) and some people are strictly Pampers, Huggies or Luvs people.
You will see what you want to spend or what works best with your kid. I will use Pampers BabyDry if I can get them on sale or with a good coupon, but generally I use Luvs.
BUT I would NEVER not use my Huggies overnights, DS is 4 months old and still too small for the size 3's, but they are a friggen lifesaver.
But yeah, it is mainly what works for each baby or family

Re: diapers/wipes
a lot of moms I talk to swear by the Costco (Kirkland brand) wipes. A couple of my girlfriends gave me their left over diapers, so I am going to use trial and error until I figure out which works best.

LOVE Kirkland wipes!!!! I found all others to be too "perfumey" or too wet.
As for diapers, I found Pampers "Baby Dry" worked best for me. As others have stated, it's trial and error.

Re: diapers/wipes
As far as diapers I am going to try the pampers and huggies and see which ones I like best before I go out and buy a whole bunch.
In the beginning when I change the baby I am just going to use a washcloth, water and a little soap that does not have fragrance. It is not good to use perfumes or fragrances on newborns. After this I will see if I will continue with the wash cloth, water and baby soap, or switch to baby wipes.

My hospital gave us Pampers sensitive wipes, with no fragrence or dyes.
I could imagine that would be a giant PITA with a screaming newborn on the changing table.

My mom has been using a wash cloth with soap and water for the last 6 months on my nephew and it's been fine. I 'll see what works best for me after my baby is born It is good to know that Pampers makes wipes with no dyes and fragrances.

Swaddlers for "newborn"... When baby is older, cruisers are the best!

God bless her! I know I didn't have the patience for that. Especially if she pooped. I needed like 25 wipes for that (no kidding!).
Huggies and Pampers both make sensitive wipes.
