opinions please--regarding these diet aids
has anyone tried thermosculpt and bio-sculpt? I bought it from Lucile Roberts--my niece claims she lost alot on this.
I was going to try Alli or this--what do u think>

I;'d say no way, we have had a few admits to our hospital from Alli, all the docs where I work are advising against it, they recommend good ol' exercise and portion control.

dehydration, increased blood pressure, lots of GI issues (stomach)
What it really boils down to is the docs say this is an un-natural way to lose weight, it is not a natural aid it is a formulary supplement (meaning it is man made-lots of different ingredients aded into a pill) Not safe in my opinion from what I am seeing and hearing Sorry.

Sounds like the side effects of any over the counter or prescription pill, even for something as simple as a migrane.

we very rarely get patients that come to the ER for these type of reactions from OTC and other RX meds, I think that is probably because most OTC don't cause such extreme reactions, and anything that is prescribed is moitored by a doctor. So I don'tthink they can be compared by any means.

ITA. I am a respiratory therapist and we had a guy come in in cardiac arrest- found out later he was taking a new diet pill (of course I don't remember the name right now). I know the results may look promising, but are you goign to be on this pill your whole life? It's much more effective & healthier to change your eating habits.

I disagree that other OTC medication can't cause the same type of effects. I've heard of many people burning holes in their stomachs from taking too many Advil - from people ruining their esophogas from taking too much heartburn medication, to people getting cavities from sucking on too many cough drops.
It's all about people actually taking the time to read about what they are puting into their body. All of the time its seen that people don't do it, and not just with medication. People don't take time to research and understand on their own to make sure they fit within guidelines and use things appropriately.
As for are you going to be taking the pill for your whole life? Of course the answer is no. It's not a magic bullet pill - and that is discussed readily in all marketing materials and in their documentation. It's not even marketed as a diet pill - it is a diet AID. You must follow a low calorie, low fat diet or you would experience the symptoms discussed above. The diet that is distributed with Alli is probably a better diet than pushed with other plans. (It is the diet recommended by the National Heart Association.) There is no whole elimination of food groups, and no, I can't go eat a piece of cake and a hotdog just because 'it fits in my points range for today'. Again, it comes back to people actually reading and understanding the information presented to them. I guess for a section of the general public that's too much to ask, and they will have the associated medical problems that comes along with 'lack of brain to read directions syndrome'.

Again, most OTC do not cause a need for an ER visit, we are seeing an increase in triage being related to diet supplements. We rarely get someone in saying that they have had a bad reaction to Advil and that they need admission, however we had 2 this week alone realted to the use if Alli. No need to debate this further, but if you worked in an ER I'm sure you;d stay away from any diet supplement,. Be careful is all I'm, saying, I think eventually all diet supplements will be pulled from the OTC market, most pharamcists think so too.

true..the dark pants thing is scary...Ii was asking about biosculpt and thermosculpt also as opposed to alli...all natural. was the thermosculpt.maybe i will just look up the ingredients
