middle school teachers.. whast your bathroom policy?

The school rules are no bathroom or leaving teh room 1st 10 minuteslast 10 minutes of the period. i try to stick tothat. I teach 6th grade and its eems likeone persona sks to go then everyone "needs" to go.

My principle just came in with aletter from one of the boys in my class saying that he needs to be ale to go to the bathroom whebever bc he has some problems and he had an accident in class. I dont think it was my class but who knows i didnt notice anyting.

My principle agreed with me its so hard to figure out if they really have to go or if they just want to leave the room. how do you handle this?

I don't allow them to go the first 5 minutes or last 5 minutes.

I start the year with the "if you don't abuse it, I won't limit it" speech, but 9 days in, I can already see an issue with certain students. I reach out to the nurse first to make sure there is no medical reason, and then I call home if it's becoming too much. They have to write all their passes in their agenda book, so I can see in a glance how often they have to go in my class.
