Honest RE opinions please!!
OK I am going to make a decision this week and I really need your help. I know it's been asked a thousand times, but my head is spinning from all the different opinions. My insurance takes RS of NY, but I'm nervous about the mixed reviews. I would like someone who deals with male factor well and we live in eastern Suffolk (although I am willing to travel). I'm considering Dr. Chu at NSUH too. But any reccomendations are appreciated!!! This is such a hard decision! TIA

Well I recommend Dr. Chu at NSUH, but I'm a bit biased I went there and got a bfp on my 2nd IVF cycle. Good luck with whatever you decide

Re: Honest RE opinions please!!
I had a good experience at RS of NY. I never had any problems with them and our issue was male factor. We got pregnant with our first IVF.
Good luck to you

Re: Honest RE opinions please!!
I think you're going to get the same responses from the same people this time around.
For me, after 6 failed IUIs at RSNY and 4 failed IVFs at NSUH...if I thought did it again, I'd go to NSUH

Re: Honest RE opinions please!!
I personally hate RSNY - I went through ten months of IUI cycles with two cancelled cycles and eight IUI's. Then I learned from another RE that I have blocked tubes so all those IUI's were a waste. I now go to LI-IVF and like them a lot - they are honest and upfront and that's all I can really ask.

I also go to LI IVF and like them a lot. They have been helpful and clear with me when I have questions and I have felt comfortable with all we've done.

Re: Honest RE opinions please!!
If you want honesty.......stay away from RS of NY!!!!! Yes some people do get pregnant there but in my opinion you are decreasing your chances. I learned this the hard way after 2 failed IVF & 1 failed FET. I didn't know any better about what a real IVF clinic was & I figured they were all the same so I stayed there. I just finished interviewing with 3 other places & what a difference. It's actually amazing that all of the doctors had nothing good to say about them & disagreed w/ half the stuff I was told or did. I know this all sounds harsh & again it is just my opinion, but it comes from experience. Before you make any decisions why don't you set up a few consults so you can see how each place & each doctor is different. I thought I was going to go to one place after RS of NY but after all my consults ended up at another because I just clicked w/ the doctor & his ideas & protocol. Good Luck!

We decided to see Dr. Schoor in Smithtown http://www.drschoor.com/ because we were able to learn a lot about him on his blog and website--we have our first appt on tues so I don't know much yet.

Re: Honest RE opinions please!!
I went through 3 failed IVF cycles with RSNY. I am now looking into doing IVF again - this time with donor eggs - and I would not go back to RSNY. I am leaning towards LI IVF at this point, but not 100% certain yet. RSNY just seemed to actually go down hill so much even as I was going through these 3 IVF cycles. I have not heard as much negative feedback on any RE as I have heard about RSNY. I wish I had known what I know now about them back then. Maybe I could have had a baby with my own egg if I had gone somewhere else. It's too late now for me, but not for you. East Coast Fertility is another RE to check out. Good luck to you. I hope you find an RE who can help you.

Re: Honest RE opinions please!!
I go to LI IVF and see Dr. Brenner. I am starting my 3rd clomid iui cycle so I haven't gotten my bfp yet, but everyone is very nice and I like it there. I don't have anywhere else to compare it to, but lots of girls on here like it there. good luck

Re: Honest RE opinions please!!
Thanks everyone for your honesty. It's such a difficult decision and the wrong choice can end up costing months or years of frustration. I'm fairly certain I am going to make an appointment with Dr. Chu and just deal with the commute.

Re: Honest RE opinions please!!
I just started seeing an RE a few weeks ago and I posted here to get opinions and although I've heard mixed reviews of RSONY I went with them anyway. (Stony Brook office) So far I've been very happy. The staff and nurses are very nice, I've been able to get an appt. quickly with Dr. San Roman twice already and I find him to be very kind and knowledgeable. He spent a lot of time with us on our first visit and answered all of our questions and I will be seeing him again on Wed. He called the other day after my lab results cam ein and he wanted to see how I was doing and explain a few things before we see him next week. I've also felt that they have been very thourough with the testing, I've yet to start any treatment because Dr. San Roman wants to identify the problem first before starting any treatment. I've had blood work, sonos, my husband had a semen anaylsis, etc. I've been pleased with my treatment thus far. Ultimately you have to make your own decision and for every bad experience someone had with a particular doctor or practice there will be someone who had a good experience. It's a very personal choice and is very subjective so you need to be comfortable. I'm happy with RSONY but just because I am doesn't mean you would be too. I would meet with different practices and see who YOU feel most comfortable with because that is the most important thing. Good luck!

Re: Honest RE opinions please!!
We are also MF. I interview RSof NY twice and then decided to go with Stony Brook RE. They were more thorough in their examination/ diagnosis process. I didn’t like that RSofNY did not tell us about a specific urologist in the area that specialized in cases like ours. They only referred us to the urologist they use, even though I asked several times if there was someone different in the area with a little more expertise. Overall I was happy with Stony Brook. Interview as many RE’s as you can. This will also help in your decision. Good Luck.

Re: Honest RE opinions please!!
Thanks so much for all of your opinions. I truly appreaciate all your responses and will go foward much more enlightened!! We are going to make an appointment with RS of NY. It's not my first choice, but with the insurace coverage (which isn't much as is) we can't afford to go elsewhere just yet. I have already had an HSG and all the basic bloodwork. We know our problem is male factor so I am assuming we will do IUI. If we need to go further or things look like they are getting complicated I know I will be looking elsewhere. DH has already told me if he gets a bad feeling from them on the first visit we will go elsewhere and not even bother. I feel like I have done SO much research about our issue that I know what should be happening. Anyway, I didn't want anyone to think I ignored their advice about RS of NY. I certainly heard you and I am procedeing with caution

I started with RSofNY too and had same experience. No testing besides SA was done, 12 months & 4 IUI's. After switching to LI-IVF, 1st test done was an HSG and I was pregnant the next month!
