Drs office just called with hcg level
its 2240, at exactly 5 weeks...is that good?

yes that's a good # - but it's more important if it increases. it should double every 24 - 48 hours, has your dr's office scheduled you for a second test?

No, they said they will see me again Oct 24 for our next appointment...I assume this means everything is fine...but I have no idea

It is most important that the #'s double but it does seem like a nice strong number. It seems they worry more when you have a low number...they shoul dgive you a follow up in 2 day sand that will tell you if everything is progressing normally. Did you get your progesterone level checked?

I actually asked them and they said no...I first asked if I could have another sonogram, because last weeks didnt show anything, and I am still worried, and they said no, I will have another at my next appt. So then I said, should I have another blood test done, to see if the number is doubling, and she said no...I had an appointment with a different doctor for tomorrow, but dh made me reschedule because he couldnt make it, so now its Oct 12, at 750 pm so he can make it...I guess I have to wait another week now
Again on the phone this woman told me that I am only 2-3 weeks pregnant...

ok, at this point, i would be looking for a new ob/gyn. part of their job is to reassure you and get rid of any fears you may have - and it does not sound as if your doctor's office is willing to do that.

When I went my doc had be go 3 times in a row to make sure that my numbers were doubling. The first time i went it was 2100 than it went to 7800 than to over 12,000.00.

I agree and don't ask...TELL.
For instance: I want another beta hcg and progesterone. Please fax in a prescription to Quest at 631 xxx xxxx and mark it stat. Thanks!
Should they say no, tell them you will be coming in to pick up your records to take to your new Dr.

Just to let you know, I could never tell you what my hcg levels were, if they did them, they never told me and honestly I never thought to ask. I had my first sono at 8 weeks and then not again until 22 weeks. The reason that they may be telling you to wait is because if you are only 2-3 weeks they wont be able to see much more until 5 weeks which is around 10/24. The question is do you trust your dr or not. If not then you should switch.

I'm sorry your doctors keeps saying no to you, and maybe I used the wrong words.....
Like Melissa said, you TELL your doctor you WILL be taking another test, and I agree that if you do not like the answers you are getting, maybe you should find a new doctor.

Maybe when the office is saying 2-3 weeks they are talking about the fetus age, which is about 2 weeks less than you would think you are. I didnt have a sono as I said until 8 weeks so we were obviously able to see everything by then.
If you are concerned I would tell them, that you are going to go for another blood test to be sure everything is okay, or you are going to switch Drs because you are NOT going to spend the rest of your 40 weeks with a Dr who obviously doesnt listen to his/her patients.

Also as a Dr I would be concerned that your level is over 2000 and there is nothing in the uterus. That basically screams ectopic or mistake in ultrasoun(I'm not saying fo ryou, but it deserves a look) Your Dr should want to give you repeat bloodwork especially if you are confident in your dates. GL
