Thanksgiving
Oh where oh where has the time gone!!! It's almost October and before you know it Thanksgiving will be here. Here's the problem.......My mom always hosts Thanksgiving at her house and has myself, dh, and both sets of my grandparents over, but this year she'll be in Key West visiting my brother. His birthday is on Thanksgiving and they are also going to celebrate Christmas also. I was talking to Joe about how bumed I am and he suggested having Thanksgiving at our house this year. It will be our first one married and we are in our new house. I love the idea of having my grandparents and il's over but I am a little scared. Joe is the big cook in the family but he has to work that night at 6pm. I know he'll cook most of the dinner but I need some suggestions. Here's what I have so far
Roasted and deep fried Turkey Masked tators Corn Rolls Sweet tators Brocolli(?) cheese cassoral(?) Gravy Dressing Apple Pie Homemade Pumpkin Pie Homemade Ice Cream LOTS LOTS LOTS of alcohol coffee punch milk tea water
We are having approx 12-15 people. ANy help would be great for both the menu and decoration/tablesetting ideas!!! TIA

Re: Thanksgiving
Most of this you can cook before hand and than just reheat that day. It works out best. For Thanksgiving we usually have:
turkey stuffing mashed potatoes mashed sweet potatoes string bean casserole turnips (which my grandmother thinks we all like) pumpkin bread

Re: Thanksgiving
I host Thanksgiving for 10 people, here's what I make.
2 turkey breasts (no one eats dark meat) Garlic Mashed Potatoes Corn Stove Top Stuffing Green Beans sauteed with garlic/olive oil Cranberry dipping sauce from Alton Brown Cranberry sauce (the jelly stuff out of the can)
My MIL brings noodle pudding.
It's hard enough to cook for that many people without having to make too many dishes. There is always plenty of food.
