"Best" time to call in sick
I have had a sinus headache all week. It's not getting better and I am miserable going to work. I want to call out tomorrow plus i want to be home with my kids for halloween since they are little.
What time should I Call in sick? Earlier in the morning or now in the evening?

Depends is there an answering service? In NYC we have a computer system that we have to log into and we have to call...but now we can leave a message the night before

Do it in the evening. You have a better chance of getting a good sub. If you call in the morning you get the leftovers.

I would do it tonight rather than in the morning. Usually they want you to call by 6am or so, so this way you can rest in the morning

I agree!
I disagree, call in now. My principal actually told us to call in the night before and not try to see how we feel in the morning. It is too chaotic that way. (according to him)

yeah, I was always told to call as soon as I knew I would be out..I gues it depends on your school

If you know for sure you're not going in tomorrow, call in now and get it over with! That way you can rest in the morning.

It doesn't matter for me, We have an automated system we call into...just have to do it by 6:30am the latest...or else we have to wait to call into school.

i was always told to call ASAP....even days and weeks before we know we're out (if it's planned).
I do the same when i'm sick...i call as soon as i know i'm not coming in. that way you get a good sub and it's less hectic for all involved, including the person coming in for you.
ETA: we are required to call in by 5:30 AM.... i like to call in the evening so i don't have to wake up extra early just to call.
