One hour glucose test
Mine is on Tuesday and I can't for the life of me remember the instructions. I've called the dr several times, but the nurses' station has been unreachable. My work day tomorrow & Mon are crazy & I don't know if I can call then. Does anyone know if there's a fast? I have to finish the drink 1 hr. before the appointment, right (they sent me home w/ it last prenatal visit)?

Re: One hour glucose test
My midwife said I don't have to fast. She said not to have anything really sugary (OJ, waffles and syruo, etc) and not to eat 2 hours before the test.

Re: One hour glucose test
I was told to fast, if you were to eat to much sugar, carbs it would raise your glucose level and give you a false positive. Good Luck!

Re: One hour glucose test
I was specifically told NOT to fast, but to avoid sugary cereals that morning.

Re: One hour glucose test
I wasn't given any specific instructions, and had to drink the drink at the lab. I went first thing in the morning and didn't eat before I went. I had no problems.

Re: One hour glucose test
I was told to eat a light breakfast before I go (no sugary cereals or fruit though). I was also told that I have to drink the liquid within five minutes and then get to the doctor within an hour. Good luck!

Re: One hour glucose test
You really need to check with your Dr. Only because mine told me to fast but alot of people on here were told not to fast so its hard to say....

Re: One hour glucose test
i was told i can eat before i go. i avoided anything (i.e. carbs) that will turn into sugar before the test so i ate just eggs and drink milk.
went to the office and the nurse timed me as i drank the liquid then sat in the waiting room for an hour before they took my blood.

Re: One hour glucose test
I took the test at Quest labs. My doc told me not to fast (but that I might not want to eat a jelly donut right before the test - lol).
I had a small bowl of Kashi cereal about an hour before the test. I drank the drink, sat for an hour, then they took blood.
I passed the test.
